OVERVIEW

It's GPS, but not as you know it…

Trimble Catalyst is GPS positioning-as-a-service for Android smartphones and tablets.

To build Catalyst, Trimble have extracted the core of their hardware GPS receiver technology and transformed it into a software service that can run inside an app on your phone. So all you have to do is select a service plan to get on-demand accuracy, directly to your mobile device.

With the addition of a simple, light-weight USB antenna, running the Catalyst service app on your Android device can turn your smartphone or tablet into a powerful centimeter accurate mapping, navigation, and measurement instrument that you can use with any location-enabled app or service.

APPS & WORKFLOWS

There’s an app for that

Apps are the key to the innovation of Catalyst. Any location-enabled workflow can take high-precision GNSS and add value or drive efficiency through the benefits of affordable, accessible precision. Use the free Trimble Mobile Manager app to handle your Catalyst subscription and manage a connection to the Catalyst softGNSS engine, then choose the workflow app you need to get your job done.

Mapping & Asset Management

With Catalyst you can create accurate maps with points lines and polygon-based mapping workflows. Choose from a wide range of Catalyst SDK enabled and third-party apps using digital form- and map-driven workflows.

Example apps

Trimble TerraFlex, Survey 123, Collector for ArcGIS, K-Mobile, Geomeet, Network Collector…

Surveying & Cadastre

With Catalyst you can perform high accuracy survey and land administration workflows with your smartphone. With enough accuracy to support data collection and stakeout workflows, get to the point faster with Catalyst.

Example apps

Trimble Penmap for Android

Aerial Mapping

Catalyst is the ideal tool for efficient, streamlined ground control point capture for UAV mapping workflows. Catalyst is already supported by a range of GCP apps.

Example apps

3DR GCP, Drone Deploy, Trimble UAV Ground Control

BYO App

Whatever app you use, supercharge your workflow with high quality GNSS positioning.

Works out of the box

With the option to plug directly into the Android OS, Catalyst can provide high accuracy to any location-enabled app, right out of the box.

Accuracy*

  • Precision subscription
    10 mm HRMS + 1ppm / 20 mm VRMS + 1ppm after 2 minutes
  • Decimeter subscription
10 cm HRMS and VRMS after 1 minute
  • Sub Meter subscription
30 cm HRMS and VRMS after 1 minute
  • 1 Meter subscription
100 cm HRMS and VRMS after 1 minute
  • No subscription
200 cm (autonomous) after 1 minute

*For all positioning subscription levels with Trimble Catalyst, performance depends heavily on many contributing factors. Accuracy and reliability may be subject to anomalies such as multipath, satellite geometry, atmospheric conditions, and proximity to obstructions such as trees, mountains, buildings and other structures. Position accuracy specifications for Trimble Catalyst subscriptions levels are validated in normal conditions with clear lines of site to the sky, and position accuracy may degrade quickly and significantly under any of the aforementioned anomalous conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Trimble Catalyst?

Trimble Catalyst is a subscription service that allows you to generate and use centimeter-accurate GPS positions on your smartphone or tablet. As a Catalyst subscriber you can choose to be automatically charged monthly on an unlimited use plan, or alternatively pre-pay for on demand access on an hour-by-hour basis.

Do I need GPS Correction services to use Catalyst?

Trimble Catalyst uses GPS corrections to generate highly accurate GPS positions. Your subscription includes access to the Trimble Corrections Hub, which lets you use Trimble and Trimble partner correction services. Trimble Corrections Hub coverage is available in many parts of the world, including the contigious United States. Check here for the latest coverage map, select Survey and Mapping and then CenterPoint/FieldPoint/ViewPoint RTX. If the Trimble Corrections Hub does not provide suitable coverage in your location you will need to provide your own correction service.

Can I share my subscription with others?

Trimble Catalyst monthly licenses are transferable between users and devices, but may only be used on one device at a time. Catalyst On Demand licenses are non-transferrable, but On Demand pools can be shared by any number of users.

How do I manage my account?

You can see your subscription and manage your payment details in My Account section. You can manage your licenses and assigned users for your subscription at the Trimble License Manager application.
