Field to Finish

Information and Sales

What in the world is Field-to-Finish?

For surveyors this term refers to the process of completing a finished survey document from raw field data. For most of us, it means automating as much of this process as we can. Given the current offerings of the software we represent, these processes are reduced to point symbology and automated line work. Both of these technologies have been available for years, and are technologies we have heard about before.

The basic building block of these technologies is a unified coding system. All you need to accomplish is a standard way of coding descriptions and require your crews them to use them. It does not matter what system you come up with (some use numbers, most use characters). Once you have a coding system in place and everyone is using it correctly, you can add the commands necessary to create linework. We call this automated linework, but in reality it is not all that automated. There are only a few commands you need to begin with and as you gain experience, you can add more.

Duncan Parnell understands this technology. We can assist you in creating your own system, or you can purchase a pre-packaged system from us.
